Times Square – New York – Manhattan

Times Square is the theatre district in Manhattan, there are about 40 theatres.
At the crossing Broadway and 7th Avenue. It stretches from 42nd Street to West 47th Street.
It was named after the New York Times which is located there.
In 1976 the area around Times Square was known as the most dangerous place in New York. But times changed and today it is as safe as whole Manhattan. Where Broadway and Times Square meet the road was changed to a pedestrian area. It is a must to equip new buildings with illuminated advertisings. Especially for this advertisings a new unit was created – the LUTS (Lighting Unit for Times Square).

A visit in the concentration camp Auschwitz and Birkenau in the south of Poland gives you a dramatic impression about the crimes of the Nazis.
The exhibition is made in a very neutral way but the huge area is very impressive. What you may be have seen in movies and read in literature is far not as impressive as what you will see at the location.
I developed the captures in black and white because I think it is more representative for the content. As well I did not photograph everything possible and I did not publish all photographs. A certain respect and remembrance is limiting the choice of photos. I can highly recommend a visit of Auschwitz, it will help to get much closer to history and influence the future.

In Nepal you will find the influence of the modern world and the tradition side by side. Traditional and modern life is creating a mixed lifestyle. The streets show a multi-cultural view. The street view is stamped by poverty and wealth and as well from religion and history.
European and American lifestyle influencing clearly the obvious traditional life of the population.

Sturm über Island – Storm over Iceland

Storm over Iceland
This capture was taken in the highland of Iceland.
A stormy wind was blowing with about 100 km/hour. The sun was shining throughout the whole day. The temperature was 5°C but due to the wind the felt temperature was -10°C.
These weather conditions lead to this bizarre cloud formations. The road 910 will lead to the Karahnjukar-Power-Station. This is the reason why it is fully developed asphalted road. Due to this fact it is easy to access the highland area of Iceland also now during spring time when normal gravel roads are still closed. The snowmelt was just starting.
Iceland is an absolute stunning place to visit!
