Infrared

Infrared Exposures of New York City

Imfrared pictures were taken with a Nikon D700 which was converted by Optic Makario exchanging the internal IR-pass filter. This standard filter is blocking the infrared rays above 700 nm, it is mounted directly in front of the sensor. Allowing to pass visible light from 400 nm to 700 nm. This IR-pass filter is removed and replaced by a IR-pass filter blocking all wavelengths below 720 nm.  After this change the sensor captures only IR wavelengths from 720 nm to 1100 nm which are invisible to the human eye.

Times Square – New York – Manhattan

Times Square is the theatre district in Manhattan, there are about 40 theatres.
At the crossing Broadway and 7th Avenue. It stretches from 42nd Street to West 47th Street.
It was named after the New York Times which is located there.
In 1976 the area around Times Square was known as the most dangerous place in New York. But times changed and today it is as safe as whole Manhattan. Where Broadway and Times Square meet the road was changed to a pedestrian area. It is a must to equip new buildings with illuminated advertisings. Especially for this advertisings a new unit was created – the LUTS (Lighting Unit for Times Square).

Rainy night in New York City

If it rains in New York you will get wet.
If it rains in NYC it rains hard in summertime. You won’t get a taxi, there are thousands but all are occupied when it rains.
You could be prepared carrying an umbrella but if you are an optimist you left it at home. So you will buy one for 5$, a small, ugly weak toy-like umbrella and add it later to the box with the other dozens you bought in the past when you got cached by a thunder storm.
But for all this you get rewarded by the rainy scene, when everything is wet and lights are reflected in the streets.

New York city is most beautiful during a rainy night.
